Unblocking Drains
The following is the process which we follow when we are dealing with a blocked drain. At each step, we will keep you informed so that you know what we are doing. Our promise is that we will do whatever we can to find the cheapest and most effective solution to your blocked drain issue.
Exploration
Our expert plumbers will be looking at what is happening in your unique case and determine the best way to proceed. Most often that starts with sending one of our specialised cameras down the drain. With that we can see not only what is causing the blockage but also without camera locator, we can pinpoint exactly where the blockage is. That saves our clients hundreds of dollars because if we need to dig, we can get to the right spot straight away.
Jet Rodder stage
Once we have identified the blockage, our first step is to use the JET RODDER to try and clear the blockage away. The JET RODDER uses high water pressure to cut through debris, tree roots etc. Often it is enough to break up the blockage into smaller pieces which can pass through the pipes. The JET RODDER also cleans the drains as it goes which prevents other blockages in the future.
Electric eel stage
If the blockage is too dense for the JET RODDER, we switch to the ELECTRIC EEL which physically cuts through tough roots and dislodges grease and debris from the wall of pipes. An electric eel is a good option if your blocked drain is due to roots but only if your pipes are in good condition, hence why we use the Jet Rodder first.
Excavation
In extreme cases where there is significant damage to the drains, or there is a blockage which we just can not remove, we will have to dig up and replace the pipes. Because of the locator built into our camera, we will know exactly where, and how deep, the blockage is.
Remedial stage
Once we have the drain unblocked, we will discuss with you about the long term solution. You are naturally expecting your drains to remain clear so discussing the long term solution is an important step as roots do grow again.
Earthenware Pipes
We have seen another reason for a blocked drain if the drain is old and constructed from Earthenware. It is our experience that earthware is very susceptible to breakages from earthworks and roots. As a result, your pipes will often break and fill with dirt and roots. We can use our equipment to locate the exact location of the blockage. We will discuss options on how to replace the pipe and remove the blockage.
